Rima Fakih Biography
Rima Fakih won the Miss USA pageant on 16 May 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Representing the state of Michigan, she beat out 50 other contestants from 49 states and the District of Columbia to be named Miss USA 2010. Rima Fakih is a Lebanese-American who was born in Lebanon and emigrated to the United States in 1993, when she was about seven years old. She was "born in Lebanon and raised in New York City and Dearborn, Michigan in both the Muslim and Christian faiths," according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal. Fakih "is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, with a minor in Business Administration," according to the Miss USA website. She won the Miss Michigan title in 2009. As Miss USA 2010, she won the right to compete in the Miss Universe pageant later in 2010.

Rima Fakih is not the first Arab-American to win the Miss USA Pageant; Wikipedia reports that Julie Hayek, Miss USA of 1983, was also a Lebanese-American... The first runner-up to Rima Fakih was Morgan Elizabeth Woolard, Miss Oklahoma USA... Fakih's prize package includes a one year scholarship from the New York Film Academy, including housing in New York City, plus "dental services by Dr. Jan Linhart, D.D.S.".
